Mr. Musurca graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1977. He began his career as an Assistant Attorney General in the State of Ohio. Initially, he prosecuted Medicaid Fraud matters and later served as counsel to the Ohio Real Estate Commission where, as Special Counsel to the Attorney General, he participated in numerous disciplinary hearings involving real estate professionals accused of misconduct.
Following his service with the Ohio Attorney General, Jim entered private practice in Cleveland, Ohio where he practiced in the areas of real estate, personal injury and criminal law.
Jim is admitted to practice law in Ohio, Indiana and New York, where he relocated in 1991. Initially, his New York practice involved primarily real estate and insurance defense matters involving commercial liability defense.
In 2000, Jim became of counsel to Babchik & Young, LLP, where he continued his concentration on insurance defense litigation, while expanding into professional liability involving architects, engineers, attorneys, dentists, etc. In addition, Jim began to focus on insurance coverage matters and currently devotes the majority of his time to insurance coverage issues.
During his career, Jim has participated in numerous jury and non-jury trials, appeals, administrative hearings and arbitrations. Jim has maintained a Martindale-Hubbell BV rating of 4.4 for over 20 years and is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Torts, Insurance and Compensation section.
Jim is admitted to practice in the Seventh and Second Circuit Courts of Appeal as well as the U.S. District Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Southern District of Ohio.
